  • Responding to Emerging Needs

    1

We aim to say "yes!" to the programming needs of Indigenous partners as much as possible. Our experience has shown that responding to immediate needs is key to long-term progress. Whether it is supporting a partner organization to acquire a breast pump for a new family, or problem-solving transportation challenges to ensure students can attend their literacy block, having private funding available allows MFI to efficiently adapt and allocate funds for initiatives that make programming efforts responsive, and ultimately more effective.

  • Enabling Human Power

    2

Setting up solid programming is essential—putting it in place with strong implementation practices is equally essential. MFI plays a crucial role in mobilizing the essential human resources required to organize and oversee activities that extend beyond the scope of government funding, yet play a vital role in enhancing the well-being outcomes in schools and communities. This encompasses administrative tasks, logistical intricacies, and other behind-the-scenes responsibilities. Funding from supporters covers these frequently invisible but absolutely necessary human-capital costs.

  • Creating Local Change

    3

Working with more than 50 Indigenous schools and communities across Canada on any given day, MFI connects our partners to regional efforts that advance family, educational, and economic well-being outcomes for Indigenous youth and children. Continuously striving for cultural adaptability, MFI enables private and corporate funders looking to create local, positive change by advancing Indigenous reconciliation in ways that are suited to the needs of every community.

  • Amplifying Indigenous Voices

    4

Through networking efforts, MFI counters Indigenous invisibility by actively platforming and promoting the views and voices of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit People. Private funding makes a critical contribution as MFI engages Indigenous artists, educators, and Knowledge Keepers to enhance and strengthen programming. Additionally, it enables MFI to grow Canadian allyship through storytelling that brings Canadian audiences closer to Indigenous perspectives in authentic and hopeful ways.
